When anxiety hits... love back

When we have a big vision for our lives it is inevitable that we will bump up against the culture's flow. Sometimes it seems like the template culture has made must be right. It must be the template because it works for people. However, I tend to think that when we bump up against a "should" we are just needlessly beating ourselves up. These tensions are a guidance system. They contain information that if we can shine the light of loving awareness, we will soothe ourselves and might even be able to learn something.

My friend Jodi from www.singingstone.com says, "Creativity needs a lot of space!"

​You might find your worried mind asking,

"Will I be able to survive? Pay my bills this month? How much time do I need for this really?"

I say back,

"Yes I will survive! I will find a way to pay my bills," And, "I need my whole life, okay?!"

To get here:

Step 1) Ask yourself, "If I were going to die tomorrow, what would I regret not having done?" My answers surprised me. I tried to reject them. Let them surprise you and let them be valid. They are yours. You get to be you. In fact the world needs you to be you. I'll share mine with you if you share yours below. You don’t have to know why you want what you want. Consider them gifts from god. Allow them to evolve as you mature.

Step 2) Surround yourself with good friends. A tried and true method when I get stuck is to phone a friend. Simple. In the conversation tell them what's going on with you. If it's new for you, tell them you aren't looking for advice or to solve a problem. Just to connect. When you are stressed or fearful it's not usually the time to solve the problem. It's time to express. It's time to move. It's time to be with other people and let them see more of you. You can designate a few friends in your mind and let them know or you can just start calling them up. Make sure to call when you are inspired, excited and thriving too. A lot of anxiety comes from simply NOT expressing yourself in a way that is satisfying for you.

Step 3) When the anxiety subsides make a plan, Get clear if you aren't already on how much you spend a month. Get clear on how much you need to cover your bills. Then piece together an income based on what you have access to that leaves you room for your creative pursuits but that accepts that we live in little fury animal bodies that need shelter and food. Anything that serves your larger goals and vision is perfect. I have a financial training that can help you get this set up for yourself. It makes a foggy and sometimes overwhelming financial fears clear.
